I have had the compressor for almost one year. It is the best small compressor I could find. This compressor is quiet, cycles quickly and has little water in the tank even after extended use. I did add an oil water separator to the outlet. It has enough power for all of my nail guns. It doesn’t have enough volume to run air tools, like sanders and drills. This is another great product from Makita. I have never been disappointed in any of their tools. One thing that is very minor to me, is that it is difficult to see the oil level in the sight glass. I couldn’t locate an actual oil volume for this compressor anywhere. Quiet and long lasting sums this one up.
A lot of other reviews can go into minute detail about its function and features so I’ll skip that. To me, this is short and simple, its a weekend warrior air compressor, 2.6 gallon capacity meaning you can run most anything you want (you wont be able to frame the who house, but you can run the gun). Its a little heavy, but that should be expected, it takes some heavy, strong metal to withstand the air pressure. What differentiates this to me (and what ultimately earns it 5 stars) is that it uses oil. Most smaller pancake or hot dog compressors are oil-less, a little less mess and a little easier operation (e.g., you don’t have to worry about the oil) but that comes at a cost, the life span of the unit. It doesn’t take much oil and it really doesn’t add much effort to your use, just check and add oil as necessary, occasionally clean out the old. I’ve had this for about a year now, I use it to inflate the air in the tires on my car and run a nail gun or two every now and then and I have no complaints, its fast and (relatively) quiet and more and more I have become impressed with the quality of tools by Makita, definitely a contender if you are looking for something in this category.
I purchased this for blowing out my sprinkler system. Most places said this size of air compressor was totally inadequate for this purpose. I found one site that disagreed and based on previous reviews about durability of this air compressor I purchased this item. The air compressor did a fabulous job blowing out my sprinkler system in less than ten minutes for 6 zones. This is a great machine!
